Description
Following a string of unsatisfactory replacements, including former Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, the Red Hot Chili Peppers reunited with guitarist John Frusciante and producer Rick Rubin for their seventh studio album, Californication. Frusciante's lyrical and tight guitar work blends seamlessly with the band's signature mix of high-tensile funk and adrenalized swagger. The album features introspective ballads like "Scar Tissue" and "Road Trippin'" that reveal emotional depth beneath the band's typically hedonistic lyrics. Produced by Rick Rubin, whose collaboration on Blood Sugar Sex Magik helped define their breakthrough sound, Californication marks a powerful return to form for the band.
