The Legacy of Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye began his career with Motown Records in 1961, initially aiming to be a smooth crooner in the vein of Nat King Cole. After early releases like '(I'm Afraid) The Masquerade Is Over' and his first hit 'Stubborn Kind of Fellow' (1962), he established his unique style with tracks like 'Hitch Hike'. The mid-60s brought massive success with Motown classics such as 'Pride And Joy', 'Can I Get A Witness', 'How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)', and 'Ain't That Peculiar'. His career peaked with monumental albums like the masterpiece What's Going On and the commercially successful Let's Get It On (1973), culminating in global hits like 'Sexual Healing' (1982).
