Don't Open Till Christmas [Blu-ray]

Experience one of the most shocking UK slashers ever made with Don’t Open Till Christmas, set against the sordid backdrop of early 1980s London. Directed by and starring European exploitation favourite Edmund Purdom, this infamous movie delivers plenty of blood rather than seasonal cheer. The plot centers on Christmas time in the East End, where someone with a grudge against St. Nicholas is systematically killing off anyone dressed as Santa Claus. Can Chief Inspector Harris (Purdom) of Scotland Yard stop the ever-increasing body count?

Violent with a real mean streak, this film is a prime example of British exploitation moviemaking, perfectly capturing the era with its inclusion of peep shows, tinsel, and a memorable tune belted out by Caroline Monroe. It stands as an essential, seediest-trimmings-included Xmas classic.
