Phil Woods - Here's To My Lady [Vinyl]

Phil Woods’ Here’s To My Lady is a vinyl reissue of the alto saxophonist’s 1989 session with the Tommy Flanagan Trio. This acoustic jazz album pairs Woods with pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist George Mraz and drummer Kenny Washington.

Woods brings a warm, lyrical sound and a command of bebop to a repertoire that ranges from post-bop originals by Tom Harrell and Hal Galper to tributes to Johnny Hodges and Charlie Parker. The set moves between expressive ballads and lively swing.

Woods also plays clarinet on three tracks, showcasing a different side of his instrumental voice. The album is issued on 180g one-step pressing vinyl as part of the Chesky Original Masters series.
