Pianist Alim Beisembayev presents two of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's final piano concertos on this CD release, marking the 14th volume in the Next Generation Mozart Soloists series. Recorded with the ORF Radio Symphonieorchester Wien under the baton of Howard Griffiths, this album explores the depth and character of Concertos KV 503 and KV 537, the latter nicknamed the ‘Coronation Concerto’.
Artist InterpretationAlim Beisembayev, a Kazakhstani pianist trained in Russia and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, shares his perspective on these works. He notes that both concertos are primarily majestic, yet they also contain elements of playfulness, tenderness, and nostalgia, frequently featuring passages with an operatic character. Beisembayev suggests that Mozart’s music is best understood with a sense of purity and innocence, much like a child's perception, before the desire for complex interpretation sets in.
