Kristin Hersh - Sugar On Blackstone [Vinyl]

Kristin Hersh delivers Sugar On Blackstone, a darker yet delicately rendered exploration of life, death, enrichment, and poverty. This essential entry in Hersh’s acclaimed and ever-evolving body of work draws heavily from reflections on home, displacement, and memory, tracing the emotional weight of returning to familiar places shaped by grief, survival, and resilience. Rooted in Providence, Rhode Island, the album’s title references Blackstone Boulevard and Hope Street, symbolic locations throughout the record.

• A deeply personal and emotionally expansive album reflecting on lasting bonds between musicians, family, and friends.
• Explores themes of home, displacement, memory, grief, survival, and resilience.
• Recorded at Stable Sound Studios with longtime collaborators Rob Ahlers (50FOOTWAVE) on drums and cellist Pete Harvey (Throwing Muses).
• The resulting sound balances fragility with force, and intimacy with tension.

Written in the aftermath of personal tragedy and against the backdrop of constant travel, wildfires, and restless movement across America, the album carries an unsettled atmosphere. Yet, within that darkness, Hersh finds moments of tenderness and connection, radiating strength in vulnerability.
