1619 Bad Ass Band - 1619 Bad Ass Band [CD]

An Engaging Introduction: Mr Bongo proudly presents a reissue of the self-titled album by the 1619 Bad Ass Band, a rare gem from the 1970s soul-funk scene. Originally released in 1976 on the elusive TSG Records, this album has become a highly sought-after collector's item and a favorite among DJs. This New Jersey soul-funk masterpiece captures the raw, unadulterated energy of mid-'70s underground funk and soul.

The Story Behind the Sound: The album's journey began in obscurity, released on TSG, one of several 'tax-scam' labels of the era. These labels, designed to exploit tax loopholes, often pressed records in extremely limited quantities with minimal promotion, leaving many artists unaware of their music's release. This obscurity, while preventing the band from receiving recognition at the time, has since cemented the album's status as a holy grail for soul and funk enthusiasts.

Musical Highlights: The 1619 Bad Ass Band's album offers a diverse musical palette. Experience the lush, dreamy ballad 'Rain,' the raw, drum-heavy funk of 'Love To Love,' and the string-laden stepper 'Just From You.' Modern soul fans will appreciate 'Nothing Can Stop My Loving You' with its spacey synth lines. 'Step Out' features a powerful drum break, famously sampled later, and a captivating male-female vocal exchange. Every track on this album is a testament to the band's talent.

A Collector's Dream: This reissue makes a mythical and highly coveted album accessible to a new generation of listeners and collectors. It's an opportunity to own a piece of rare soul history.

Summary: Discover the raw energy and unique sound of the 1619 Bad Ass Band with this essential reissue, a must-have for fans of 1970s soul, funk, and rare groove.
