Roland De Lassus - Requiem [CD]

This CD brings together two Requiems by Renaissance composer Roland de Lassus, performed by Vox Luminis. It is a choral classical recording for listeners interested in contrasting vocal settings of the Requiem.

The four-part Missa pro defunctis, published in 1577, is presented alongside Lassus’s five-part Requiem, published in 1589. Vox Luminis highlights the gravity of the four-part setting and the lighter colours of the five-part work; a manuscript version of the four-part piece also includes a Dies Irae absent from the Paris edition.
