JJerome87 is the solo moniker for Joe Newman, known globally as the frontman for alt-J. Following the completion of alt-J's album The Dream in 2022, Newman developed this body of work between 2022 and 2024, resulting in his first solo release outside the established alt-J sound with Charlie Andrew.

Newman teamed up with LA producer Carlos De La Gaza, a dedicated group of session musicians, and a trio of female vocalists to craft this unique soundscape. He describes the album as highly personal, reflecting a shift in his writing style.
