Regular walking for two hours per week can stabilize or even improve cognitive decline in early-stage Alzheimer's. Researchers also found that subjects who strolled at a brisk pace (112 steps per minute) for thirty minutes daily reduced their dementia risk.
Chronic or long-term pain affects more than 1.6 billion people worldwide. A study in 2020 showed that seven hundred subjects who had chronic knee pain increased their walking speed from 100 to 120 steps per minute, and reduced their pain.
