Rostam - American Stories [audioCD]

Rostam's highly anticipated third album, American Stories, marks his first new music in over five years. The Iranian-American artist and acclaimed producer delivers a deeply personal record that navigates his life across dual cultural worlds, blending Americana with Persian traditions.

Musical Exploration

This album masterfully weaves together diverse musical elements, contrasting finger-picked guitars, pedal steel, and strummed chords with evocative microtonal Persian melodies. Rostam describes this as "That marriage of east and west felt like music that I needed to make for this album." The resulting sound feels both deeply individual and unmistakably American.

Lyrical Themes and Reflections

Interweaving his own experiences, the lyrics serve as a collection of stories and reflections. Tracks include “The Weight,” which is set on college campuses in America in the spring of 2025, and “Forgive is to Know,” where Rostam processes real events and the act of songwriting itself. The album also features “Hardy ft. Clairo,” where Rostam makes sense of the end of a relationship, and addresses humanity’s uncertain future. Ultimately, Rostam hopes listeners find comfort and are left with a feeling of optimism.
