Fontaines D.C. - Romance [CD]

Fontaines D.C. - Romance (CD)

The highly-anticipated fourth studio album from Fontaines D.C., Romance, marks a significant evolution for the band. This record is their most assured, inventive, and sonically adventurous to date, produced by James Ford. Building on the success of their acclaimed 2022 album Skinty Fia, which topped the UK and Irish album charts, Romance showcases the band's expansive creative vision.

Key Features & Evolution

• The band's fourth studio album, featuring 11 tracks.
• First album produced by James Ford.
• Represents the most ambitious and expansive record from the London-based group.
• Ideas for the album crystallized while touring with Arctic Monkeys, drawing influence from artists like Shygirl, Sega Bodega, Mos Def, A$AP Ferg, OutKast, and Korn, incorporating sonic palettes from hip hop and heavy metal.
• The band members—Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O'Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums)—pushed their boundaries with experimental riffs and chord progressions.

Creative Process

The creation of Romance involved periods of individual exploration followed by intense collaboration. Following their US arena tour in Autumn 2023, the band spent a month writing together, followed by three weeks of pre-production in a North London studio, culminating in a month immersed in recording at a chateau near Paris.
