His Name Is Alive - Livonia [2024 Remastered Edition CD]

Experience the 2024 Remastered Edition of Livonia, His Name Is Alive’s seminal 1990 debut on the 4AD label. This album cemented the band's place within 4AD’s established ethereal lineage, reinventing and refracting the label’s sound through a unique prism. It stands as a powerful opening statement for the band, blending tender dream-pop with slightly deranged textures.

Livonia packages nearly ten years of Defever’s home recordings, brought to a haunting chorus by the spectral, feminine vocals of Karin Oliver. The record invites intrigue through noisy refrains and textural guitar work, examining the dual themes of love and loss in a woozy, dreamlike delivery.

This essential alternative rock recording was produced and mixed by Ivo Watts-Russell and John Fryer, known for his work with This Mortal Coil.
