Desde 2008, Matthew Halsall ha lanzado siete grabaciones de estudio aclamadas por la crítica y ha sido una figura clave en el surgimiento de un nuevo sonido de jazz en el Reino Unido. Además de sus propios lanzamientos, ha colaborado con muchos DJ y productores, sobre todo DJ Shadow y Mr Scruff.
Color Yes (2009) fue el segundo lanzamiento de Halsall y documenta sus primeras grandes bandas con artistas como el flautista Chip Wickham, el saxofonista Nat Birchall, la arpista Rachael Gladwin, el bajista Gavin Barras y el baterista Gaz Hughes.
Un álbum alegre que mejora la vida, inspirado en el jazz del Reino Unido y las influencias del jazz espiritual, pero con un rebote decididamente moderno, presentó la música de Halsall al mundo y reunió el apoyo de personas como Gilles Peterson y Jamie Cullum, Mojo, Straight No Chaser y más.
Pero Halsall nunca estuvo completamente contento con la forma en que se presentó el disco y, como parte del décimo aniversario de Gondwana Records, decidió volver a visitar el disco, remezcándolo y remasterizándolo meticulosamente para vinilo y encargando nuevas ilustraciones a Ian Anderson, uno de sus diseñadores favoritos.
